It is hard to believe that it is 20 years since the pint sized director released “Do The Right Thing”. Spike Lee certainly has made a big name for himself both as a director and a Knicks fan. He even got to appear with Michael Jordan in a commercial. Well Spike Lee was at Barnes & Noble, Lincoln Triangle on June 30, 2009 in New York City to sign copies of the DVD. Autograph Store was there to get items signed not only in the store but we got him at the tribute memorial for Michael Jackson at the Apollo Theatre

Do the Right Thing is a 1989 American ensemble film produced, written, and directed by Spike Lee. The film deals with issues of racial conflict in the multi-ethnic community of Bedford-Stuyvesant, a neighborhood in Brooklyn, New York, during the hottest day of the summer. Director Lee also stars in the film, alongside Danny Aiello, Ossie Davis, Ruby Dee, Richard Edson, Giancarlo Esposito, Bill Nunn, and John Turturro “Then we had Sam Jackson—before he was Samuel L. “. The film is also notable in that it marks the feature film debuts of both Martin Lawrence and Rosie Perez.
The film was a success at the box office, and received numerous accolades and awards. The film has grown in stature over time; in 1999, it was deemed “culturally significant” by the United States Library of Congress and selected for preservation in the National Film Registry, one of five films to do so in its first year of eligibility. In 2007, the American Film Institute listed the film as the ninety-sixth greatest American Movie in Film History.
The song “Fight the Power” by Public Enemy is a recurring aural motif in the film, as blasted from a huge boombox toted by Radio Raheem (Nunn). It appears 15 times in the film.

Christian Bale has long been known for his moody behavior and eratic signing habits for fans. The star has been reported to shut down movie sets, throw hissy fits and be quite the well…nevermind. However with wife in tow at the opening of Public Enemy Christian Bale could not have been any nicer- He signed everything Autograph Store put in front of him- We completed Batman pieces with all the cape crusaders on it and got him to sign the new stuff too!

Johnny Depp has been out promoting his new film Public Enemies from coast to coast and Autograph Store has been along for the ride. It is very important to get Johnny Depp when you can because he is often at his homes overseas. We caught up with Johnny in Chicago, Los Angeles, and New York. While in New York Mr. Depp made a private appearance at new hot spot AVENUE in NYC - Also at AVENUE with Mr. Depp was the always beautiful Kate Hudson - at separate tables.

Sir Paul McCartney was in NYC at Radio City Music Hall on April 4th 2009, and decided to give his fans a treat and stop to do some signings. With Michael Jackson’s passing it appears that Paul McCartney and Madonna will be battling out as the greatest living entertainer.

Paul spent some time checking out the items his adoring fans and Autograph Store had on hand for him to sign.

A Beatles reunion at least 50% anyway, happened April 4th at “Change Begins Within,” a benefit concert at Radio City Music Hall for the David Lynch Foundation. Paul McCartney was leading a star studded line up; Ringo Starr was also on the hand,  after letting the anticipation build, the two Beatles did perform together, as they did in 2002 for a dedication after the death of George Harrison.

After an amazing set of songs from the Beatles, Wings and his solo albums, with video clips full of Beatles footage, Mr. McCartney said, “At this point we would like to introduce somebody to you who you know, you’ve heard his name. He’s going to come out here and play you a little song this joyful night. Ladies and gentlemen: Billy Shears!”

And just as on “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band,” there was Mr. Starr to sing “With a Little Help From My Friends,” sharing a microphone with Mr. McCartney during the song and embraces afterward.

The great James Bond - Roger Moore has been out every few months signing copies of his book- Sure we got him here in NY in November but even we were surprised at just how popular Roger Moore was- We needed to get our crack over seas team on the job and Mr. Moore did not let us down! He was in Berlin promoting the German translation of his new book but Autograph Store shipped over our English copies and got them done!

Beyonce flew into NYC recently and Autograph Store was there to greet her! Beyonce was not too interested in signing initially at the airport and was quickly ushered into her waiting limo but we would track her down later to get a few signatures. Beyonce was just getting in from England were our connections tell us she was very gracious signing autographs and posing for the paparazzi. At the David Letterman Show Oscar Winner Denzel Washington greeted his fans. Posing and signing he seemed to be really enjoying all the attention as he continues the promotion for Pelham 123. We were lucky to get Denzel to sign 16 different photos for us at this appearance.

The teen celeb wonder-boys hit the town…The Jonas Brothers. Screaming fans, paparazzi, autograph collectors, you name it they were there to see the Jonas Brothers at The Late Show With David Letterman.  The Jonas boys took about 25 minutes to sign photos, kiss babies, pose and make campaign promises…heck if under 15 year old girls could vote these 3 boys would have crushed Obama in the election. Amazing to see.

Pelham 123 the new thriller starring Denzel Washington, John Travolta and James Gandolfini is pulling into subway stops across the nation. Due to the death of John Travolta’s son he is not promoting the new film however Denzel and the gang are picking up the slack. The cast of this great movie has been more outgoing than any we can remember and Autograph Store has been lucky to get Denzel at a few locations including the premiere June 4th in Los Angeles. Luckily Autograph Store had images from the movie very early on and we were able to get them signed in November at the El Capitan in Hollywood before the Travolta’s family tragedy- Check out these great items up for auction now at www.AutographStore.com

Sandra Bullock the sexy star of “The Proposal” is on the red carpet signing for all her fans and Autograph Store at the premier of the movie-Even her Co-Star Ryan Reynolds put pen to photos for us. Sandra is back on top with this new movie and normally is not the easiest to get. Lucky for us we were able to get her to autograph 8 photos for us at this event!
